All the time we see articles with lists and information about new apps that get people excited. However, we never look at who these people actually are that are using the apps. Surely the demographic data of people who play Plants Vs. Zombies is different than the demographic who uses Uber. Lets see what kind of people use social news readers the most, and why.

1) Bloggers

They have become more and more popular, often overtaking many famous journalists, but this comes with problems. There is such a vast amount of information coming from bloggers and the media industry, that it is difficult to take it all in and write relevant articles. Bloggers use tools like LikeHack to gather all of the relevant information from RSS feeds and social media into one place. LikeHack seeks out subjects that relate to bloggers’ themes and provides a time saving solution to not miss out on popular articles and niche posts as well. Bloggers also use tools like FlipBoard to gather information into a beautiful collection. The articles can be built into relevant themes and shared with friends and followers to provide an easy solution to dealing with multiple news sources.

2) Social Influencers

They are constantly having to reinvent themselves. The hot topic to post about last week is no longer relevant, and relevance is the cornerstone of social influencers. The last few weeks were all about Miley Cyrus’s image, Drake’s new album and the government shutdown in the US. Now these topics are no longer as important and social influencers need to be the ones who spearhead the new topics. In order to find the newest topics, RSS feeds and linked social accounts with news aggregators are invaluable. Social influencers can receive all of the breaking content and repost it onto social networks without having to leave their aggregation app. Many tools like LikeHack and My6sense allow users to do this seamlessly, so it saves time. This is important because many social influencers are always on their mobile devices and usually have other work that takes up much of their time as well.

3) Journalists

Many people confuse bloggers and journalists, and many times journalists do blog so it makes sense to have this confusion. The main difference is that blogs are more personal and are less concerned about bias. Whereas journalists are reporting on an event or issue in order to objectively educate the readers. They don’t always follow this definition but by in large they do. However, journalists need social news readers just as much as bloggers. They use them by collecting news from major AP sites through RSS feeds, and from some blogs with references such as the Huffington Post. News aggregators are invaluable because it brings them stories and information that is most important to their readers. They can quickly get these stories because social news readers filter out all of the clutter that can distract and slow them down. In turn, the journalists can take these stories, and repackage them or supplement them with new research to give a new take on a subject and gain more readers.

Social news readers aren’t only limited to writers. Many businessmen and women use it too in order to stay on top of things.

4) Marketers

They are constantly trying to get their products and services to the top of search results and on everyone’s mind. Marketing can take lots of forms but it is always important to stay current. News aggregators are helpful because they can pinpoint a certain topic for a marketer’s industry. Lets say they are working with the gaming industry. They need to keep on top of the newest developments from conferences, competitors, and new ideas. Using a news aggregator allows them to get straight to the content they need without dealing with the clutter of unimportant posts and puff pieces.

5) Industry Experts

They have a difficult job because they are the ones that people look up to. They wear many hats, such as consultants, forecasters, and risk assessors. Staying on top of current events is crucial for them to be successful. Social news readers will allow them to learn more about important events than anyone else because they will have all relevant information sent straight to their mobile device on one app. Anything and everything that is developing in their industry will be at their fingertips, which includes blogs, news, and other industry expert’s posts. News aggregators allow them to be the “smartest man in the room” or at least appear that way.

6) CEOs and Business Owners

They have to be everyone and every where for their business to succeed. They have to make decisions that affect their business’s future and so they have to be smart decisions. In this connected world, everything that happens can affect a business. Without news aggregation on a quick and easy to use news reader, there is no way they could be as efficient on their own. I have experience with just a few roles in businesses and even I feel a deficiency in time, this makes it obvious how important efficiency is to business leaders. Tools like LikeHack can add a very noticeable reduction in wasted time for business owners, because they only have to read the important and relevant information, whereas the trash that fills up blogs and news feeds can be filtered out by the tool.

These are just a few types of people who use social news readers. Do you use social news readers? If so, what kind of person are you?
