LikeHacks: When Information Becomes Noise
Hi there! It’s Dmitry. I’m back and I’ve got two major points from what we’ve already discovered self-reflecting on our mission here. So just the way they usually say it…
Previously on http://likehack.com/blog:
- We’re bombarding each other with witty articles, hype songs and viral vids that keep piling at the hell-of-a-rate so that the good old social feed no longer seems to be as useful and entertaining as it was back in the days of Facebook’s adolescence;
- And that’s not the way to stay on top of the productivity chart if you have to spend up to 1-2 hours a day going through your social feeds like I do for example.
Here’s yet another bit of our self-reflection I’m about to hit you with. But why do this?
We all @ LikeHack truly believe that it’s all about iterating on things so we’re constantly improving our features and developing new ones for you to enjoy every bit of our product.
In addition, we pay attention to every single person we get as a customer and every single email we get as your feedback. So we’re doing all this in order to keep up with the progress and sharpen up our view on where we’re going, problems we’re facing and trying to fix.
Ok, so here’s another bit, another kind of a problem and it’s almost always with us. I’m talking about the fact that we’re always surrounded by lots of information, it’s great but not as great as you may think when information becomes noise.
I’ve picked up a nice metaphor to explain it all to you folks in a second.
So y’all have heard this “always be closing” motto at least once in your lifetime. You might be even a big fan of it, just like your wife, your boss and your dog. Everybody’s looking for a way to “close”. But as there’s a limit to what you can do and how much you need to sleep. Trading sleep for some work is way to go if you’re looking for some health, mental and financial issues. Hell yeah, I know what I’m talking about – I almost fell asleep writing this.
Look, this is simple. You can’t possibly cure yourself by clearing up symptoms, you can’t possibly solve major tasks by working out small ones that keep popping up. This is what Merlin’s talking about and this is what Seth’s writing about.
Information becomes noise when we don’t realize what exactly we’re looking for, trying to consume as much as we foolishly believe we can. This is the problem we’re facing here @ LikeHack – noise. It’s everywhere and it’s getting louder as I already mentioned in my previous articles. So brace yourself, LikeHack is about cherry-picking the stuff you like, prioritization of sources and types of content.
And we’re just in our Alpha. Stay tuned.
Thanks for your time.
Dmitry K.
