When you open the news feed you see there a huge pile of rubbish: lolcats, photos of someone’s breakfast , foursquare сhekins, etc. Do you really have to see it all? We think - no.
So here we have collected a small set of tips for reading social network news feeds. Hope it will be helpful for you.
1) Don’t subscribe to media feeds in social networks.
You probably have a number of blogs or websites that you find consistently good and fascinating. You could just bookmark them all in your browser, or remember to visit them when you have time. Or – you could let the new posts and articles come directly to you.

Clearly separate the places where you read the news from places where you communicate with your friends. This will allow you to avoid procrastination when you log into social networking allegedly to read the news. To read the news there is a much more convenient tool - RSS subscription. Each and every blog online magazine has its own RSS-channel.
Sing up in any rss-reader and enjoy. If you prefer to read news on mobile devices try Feedly, Zite or Flipboard. They allow you to receive news in a very nice interface. If you prefer to read news on the Web, you can use NewsBlur or The Old Reader. By the way, we have recently launched own collection of the most interesting RSS feeds on certain topics.
But remember:
You don’t have to read every article in the New York Times/Boing Boing RSS feeds, or follow prolific tweeters. They all write and curate brilliant content, but post more than ten times a day. If you can’t wade through it yourself, don’t fear: other people will post it or rewrite it. (Source)
