LikeHackers: VCs – p.1
Hi there! It’s Dmitry. I’m trying out something new today. LikeHack is a startup and I’d like to talk about people who help startups deliver amazing results – venture capitalists. Those guys are the ones who truly hack on the love of founders and are true LikeHackers.

Cheah! I know everybody copy-pastes this pic. But do you know that one really cool guy using it in his keynotes? Hell yeah, you know him. It’s Dave McClure from 500 startups.
So let’s talk about Dave and a couple of really really really great VCs you should be familiar with (I’m not even trying to pretend that this list is something except my take on VCs and the culture here) and follow them and everything they put they time and money in.
Dave’s great. Brilliant career. From education and what he’s done as an entrepreneur to PayPal Mafia and investments he’s made, companies he’s helped to build and people he’s made happier just by being real as it gets:
“It is all about VCs failing and failing to return capital and being f**king idiots. VCs are stupid. They are absolutely stupid. Does anyone want to challenge that statement? Does anyone think that VCs are not stupid?”
– Dave McClure
Given the fact that I’m not the one here to provide the most competent list of greatest VCs out there, I’mma try to focus on the ones I’ve got in mind at this exact moment
Just because we’ve plugged into PayPal Mafia folks it’s absolutely necessary to mention Peter Thiel, the “don of the PayPal Mafia, brilliant portfolio, great deals, huge investments. That’s what Pete is about. A bit of a quote:
“I think anything that requires real global breakthroughs requires a degree of intensity and sustained effort that cannot be done part time, so it’s something you have to do around the clock, and that doesn’t compute with our existing educational system.”
– Peter Thiel
Next! But definitely never the last one out there – Brad Feld. I’ve been following Brad on the Web for ages and what he does is just pure awesomeness. From where he throws his money in to what he throws on pages of his amazing books. Brad’s been through hell-of-a-lot and his positive outlook and strong motivation is something you can look up to:
“The famous real estate cliché is “The three most important things in real estate are location, location, location.” An analogous entrepreneurship cliché is “the three most important things in entrepreneurship are people, people, people.
– Brad Feld
A blog post – what a tiny little thing to do but this is how we’re sharing things we love and telling you about people we admire. This just p.1, more nuggets to follow. Stay tuned.
Thanks for your time!
Dmitry K.
