Personalized News at a Click

12 Jul
July 12, 2012

The days of walking down your sidewalk to pick up the morning paper are only memories for many people today. According to The State of the News Media 2012, “…mobile devices are adding to people’s news consumption, strengthening the lure of traditional news brands and providing a boost to long-form journalism. Eight in ten who get news on smartphones or tablets, for instance, get news on conventional computers as well. People are taking advantage, in other words, of having easier access to news throughout the day – in their pocket, on their desks and in their laps.” While ready access to the technology is a benefit, the technology itself is not making it any easier for you to locate the exact news stories that are of interest to you. The vastness of the internet is far greater than any traditional newspaper.

Personalized news provided by Likehack culls just the news stories you want to see so they are available at a mere click with no tedious searching. If you are not interested in any news or game scores for any baseball team but the Chicago Red Sox, Likehack will filter out all baseball stories that do not address the Red Sox. If sports altogether is no concern to you but you work in the financial sector, Likehack will make certain that all cutting edge financial news is just a click away.

How does this all work? Simple. Likehack has real people working behind the scenes to analyze your searching habits. Rest assured that all news will be hand selected for you based on what you like. Plus, you may sign up with Facebook or twitter. It simply could not be any easier than that.

Don’t waste another second wading through the thousands of stories you don’t care about to find the one you want. Please contact us today so we may provide you with the personalized news you deserve.

Social Bookmarking…Use it or Lose it!

Social networking is growing like wildfire today. Dealing with multiple social online accounts can easily become a chore that is difficult to maintain. For instance, I have my Facebook account, LinkedIn account, MySpace account, EHarmony, Twitter, so on and so on. I just can’t keep up with all of them every day. I can’t afford to miss certain posts either.

Here is what happened to me. My friend Mike, who I have a link with on Facebook and LinkedIn, sent me a note about a week ago to remind me a place and time we are supposed to meet. For whatever reason, I couldn’t remember if I had seen his message on Facebook or LinkedIn, so I had to look at both places, and soon realized that the message wasn’t on either network. I began to worry a little that I was going to need to call Mike and ask him, which really isn’t a big deal, but I hate having those “stupid feeling” moments and just wanted to remember where I had seen the information that he had already sent met. I was annoyed to finally figure out that his post wasn’t on either website… it was on my MySpace page. Uhhh! Let’s just say I wasted a little more time then I wanted to. I kept thinking though, “How can I prevent this sort of annoying searching from happening at another time?”

Well, my question was answered when I stumble upon the social bookmarking feature that Likehack offers. Social bookmarking allows me to remember where my specific information is located on my social networks and also the ability to see where all this information is from one place. Yes! This is what I was needed. It would have been very helpful to have this feature available to me before I had my little predicament. Why didn’t anyone tell me about this? I didn’t know something like this exi sted.

Well, needless to say, it’s totally worth look finding. Other than that, I was surprised about other features that Likehack had available. It has the tools to avoid information overload. My little annoying issue can happen to any of us. We are all going to gradually get sucked further into the internet social media and we may have no idea when which site we have posted/read important thing on. We may start feeling older because we can’t remember the “where” and “what” questions we have for ourselves. Likehack is a good way of avoiding that feeling later. Stay organized!

As a business owner or a manager, you are encountered with a lot of data flux on a daily basis. It is a fact that no business can be operated in isolation. It has to run efficiently in the environment in order to be successful. Today, this business environment keeps on changing with a rapid speed. You have to keep alert about the revolutions occurring around the globe that can impact your business as well. For this purpose, you have to handle too much of information in the shortest possible time. With a great deal of information in surroundings, it’s hard to ignore the attraction of utilizing maximum of it.

Why faster information handling?

Tomorrow key skill for being successful is an ability to work with information fast. This phrase implies nothing but the significance of handling information in a way that could benefit your business in a time friendly manner. Effective and efficient information handling eventually leads towards accurate decision making. It is the duty of the managers to carefully monitor the flow of information within the organization and find every possibility to reduce the burden of irrelevant data that actually makes information handling a complex and time consuming thing. Information is a power, but you can’t exercise it without its proper handling because managing the flow is the key for success.

Managers have to gather the data first. Then they have to scan it in order to make analysis. Eventually they have to make correct decision based upon this analysis that must ensure the profitability of the company. Hence in such a lengthy and tiring process, being over loaded by extraneous information can create nothing else but confusion and anxiety, along with wastage of time.

What can be done?

Here are some tips that can help you to make the most of the information in shortest possible time. Firstly, as a successful manager, you must determine the sources through which information is gathered in your system. Reduce your information resources and tend to rely on some highly authentic and frequently updated ones. Electronic media, print media, social networking websites, emails etc are some of the most utilized sources, but you have to filter them otherwise they will cause you to get lost in the sea of information.

As far as emails are concerned, you can apply email filtering for your emails. This will help you to control your information flow through email by various tools like email search functioning, disabling unnecessary email notifications, managing subscription and un subscription etc. Similarly, you can also handle the information entering your organization through other means by making them free of obsolete data.

Allocate how much time to be consumed for each source. This is called data calendaring. If you are utilizing social networking platforms that you can take the help of scheduling applications that can manage your accounts over there. Note down the information in points or even in graphical form. The pictorial form of data like graphs, presentations, images, symbols etc are easier to understand and analyze in short period of time.

Get the most relevant information, save plenty of time and create the best results for your company.
